Opening Day, A great day for all!

Although it was a week late, Opening day was worth the wait. The sun came out, the grilles were hot and the games were played. Thank you to all that came out to support our players and help kick off the 2011 season. GMLB exists due to your support and the interest in the all american game of Baseball.

We want to move forward here on the Lunt fields and continue to make improvements that will enhance the park for all who use it. We will be filling in the infields with new soil in the next few weeks to help with the water issues that exist, especailly on Lunt 3. Please bare with us as we make this improvement.

I would also like to take a moment to remind all of a few rules that we have at GMLB.

1. There is no smoking on the grounds. We want to impart good habits for our children.

2. Parking is available along the roadside and in the Lunt parking lot at the East end of the fields. Please do not drive on the grass between fields or across the property.

3. Please put your trash in the provide receptecles. We are taking the returnable cans and bottles at the concession stand. We are contacting the town about recycling containers and pick up.

4. Please be concious of your language when children are present. This includes the heckling of our Umpires and Coachs.

Thank you again for all your support.

Please find a few shots from our day below and remember to go to the Base Camp Photo Smug Mug site during the season to see and purchase action shots from the nightly events.

Save our field

It may not be common knowledge that we stand a chance of losing our beloved Lunt Field!

The GMLB executive board has decided to start a movement to make the local townspeople and interested parties aware of what could be a tremendous loss for the community of Greenfield, not just GMLB. The fields are used by many others during the year and GMLB has been a part of the Lunt field for over 51 years!

Many of the community youth have learned more than baseball at Lunt Field. Respect, Honor, Sportsmanship and Self Esteem are just a few of the invaluable life skills that have been happening through the tremendous support of mothers and fathers, grandparents and friends.

We also have a been the starting point for many ball players from Greenfield High School to Major League Baseball! There have been many contributions from many people in this community in ways they might not even know.

We are so appriciative of all the time and funds that everyone have given as well as the mentoring and extending of hands to help others up! You will see some new banners at the fields that simple say "SAVE OUR FIELDS" with the address of our website to give access to comments, questions and help.

We will be collecting signatures and money to support our cause in the near future and continuing to look for larger support thru other venues such as grants, foundations and corporate sponsors.

If you want to get involved or help in anyway, please contact any board member or Thom Burden at audiothom@gmail.com or by phone at 413-824-1047.

Thank you in advance for your support!
